KINNELON, NJ — For the second consecutive meeting, the school board tabled a motion to advertise for the outsourcing of custodial services, according to North Jersey.
At its June 24 meeting, the school board tabled the motion to advertise for the outsourcing of custodial services because the board had not received the bid specifications to review: At its July 8 meeting, the board had received the specifications, but did not have enough time to examine the document, the article stated.
Earlier in the meeting, members of the public addressed the custodial issue, some expressing that other districts that outsourced custodial services were dissatisfied with those services and ended up bringing back an in-house custodial staff, the article added.
Beiermeister suspects that custodial contractors will submit an attractive bid to get their foot in the door and then raise rates down the road: Beiermeister also mentioned that the community has a comfort level with the existing custodial staff, the article noted.
According to the article, school district Business Administrator Alice Robinson said the district does not know the exact cost savings yet.
