ST. PAUL, MN — Bedbugs: Just the thought of the tiny infesting insects can make one itchy; but, their resurgence signals opportunity, according to the Pioneer Press.
"Think of them as mosquitoes without wings," said Douglas Baker Jr., Ecolab''s chief executive.
While a menace for homeowners and hotels, the bloodthirsty bugs represent a good opportunity for the St. Paul-based company, which offers cleaning products and services to consumer and industrial businesses, the article stated.
According to the article, Ecolab has new technology to get rid of bedbugs and perhaps one way to drive future growth in an area of the business — pest elimination — that was hurt by the economic downturn.
"It''s a good area of growth for us, unfortunately," said Michael Monahan, an Ecolab vice president.
Top-line growth will be driven by aggressive efforts to go after new accounts and a strong pipeline of new products, the article noted.
