APPLETON, WI — Jack''s Maintenance Service, which does all the contracted cleaning in Appleton public schools, has performed well, say school district officials who proposed renewing that contract another five years, according to the Post Crescent.
Appleton has contracted out for cleaning services for several years and that has been a huge cost savings: Jack''s was initially one of three providers, but impressed the district so much the other two were eliminated when services were consolidated, the article stated.
The cleaning service is labor-intensive and Jack''s employs about 100 people to work in the schools, mostly second shift, the article noted.
The district, which represents 40 percent of Jack''s business, owns the regular custodial equipment, the article added.
