On August 13, an amendment of the Inventory Update Reporting Rule (IUR) entered the public comment phase, one of the last stops to a final rule that would update the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and put reporting changes in place by the next reporting period, June 1 – September 30, 2011, the release stated.
According to the release, if successful, some major changes would include: Required electronic reporting of the IUR data using an agency-provided, web-based reporting software (e-IURweb) to submit IUR reports through the Internet to EPA''s Central Data exchange (CDX); and paper submissions would no longer be accepted.
Other changes would include stricter controls on what is considered Confidential Business Information (CBI) as well as upfront substantiation of the same, the release noted.
