RENO, NV — The Washoe County School District (WCSD) has announced a pilot program — starting in several of its elementary and high schools — based on the Integrated Cleaning and Measurement (ICM) model, according to a press release.
"WCSD is one of the distinguished group of school systems in the nation to earn ISO 9001 certification. WCSD has chosen the Continuous Systems Improvement Program to demonstrate a commitment to WCSD''s 63,000 students and 8,600 staff," said Rick Martin, housekeeping operations supervisor.
"The process cleaning program we use and the ICM pilot are an extension of our commitment to continuous improvement and cleaning for healthier environments," Martin added.
"If successful, the ICM pilot will integrate measurement principles and practices into process cleaning, based on modified Team Cleaning, used in our nearly 100 schools," said Rex Morrison, WCSD housekeeping training supervisor.
Process cleaning itself employs the tools and techniques associated with Team Cleaning, such as using backpack vacuum cleaners to clean both carpet and hard floors, while keeping the familiar relationships and customer service aspects of zone cleaning intact, the release stated.
