IFMA names four Fellows
The International Facility Managers Association (IFMA) recognized four new Fellows at its recent annual Conference & Expo in Dallas.

The four Fellows are: Bruce Kenneth Forbes of ARCHIBUS; Jon Eldon Martens, CFM, CFMJ, of Sonoma County, CA, General Services; W. Kirtley Miller Jr., CFM, of Himes Associates; and Michael K. Schley of FM:Systems.

The new Fellows were honored during the Awards of Excellence banquet at IFMA''s World Workplace 2008 Conference & Expo.

ASHES re-elects Cermignano
The board of directors of the American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) have re-elected Tina Cermignano as society president for 2009.

Cermignano is operations manager for quality and environmental services at Children''s Hospital of Philadelphia and has been an ASHES member for 21 years.

The board also elected Michael Bailey, director of environmental services at the Greenville Hospital System, Greenville, SC, and Gary L. Dolan, director of environmental services at The Village at Penn State, State College, PA, to three-year terms on the board.

Spartan names regional manager
JanSan manufacturer Spartan Chemical Company of Maumee, OH, has promoted Garry Nafus to regional sales manager for the Tulsa, OK, region.

Nafus, who has worked for Spartan since August as an area sales rep, brings nine years of industry experience to Spartan.

Malish adds regional sales manager
JanSan manufacturer The Malish Corporation of Willoughby, OH, has hired Chris Shaw as Northeastern regional sales manager.

Shaw has more than 20 years'' experience in the cleaning and maintenance industry.

Triple S elects board leaders, members
Stockholders of Billerica, MA-based JanSan distributor Triple S have elected David Potack of Accommodation Mollen Inc. as board chairman.

Other officers elected were David Rea of House Sanitary Supply Co. as secretary, Robert Langley of Triple S as treasurer, and Alan Sadler of Triple S as clerk, the release stated.

Elected board members were Randal Brame of Brame Specialty Co., Kenneth R. Crutcher of Kenway Distributors Inc., John B. Earl of John A. Earl Inc., M. A. "Butch" Ellis of Lansing Sanitary Supply Co., Douglas Ireland of Capital Sanitary Supply Co., Bruce Janvey of I. Janvey & Sons Inc., Cecelia Owen of Southern Sanitary Co. Inc., Michael Tighe of Industrial Cleaning Products Inc., and John B. Treat of Treat''s Solutions Inc., the release noted.


ISSA/INTERCLEAN® showed growth
JanSan trade association ISSA has announced that the number of buyer firms and buyer-firm attendees at the recent ISSA/INTERCLEAN convention and trade show rose by double digits compared to last year.

The number of buyer firms — distributors, building service contractors (BSCs), and in-house service providers (ISPs) — at the show was up 18 percent over last year, and the number of buyer-firm attendees was up 11 percent.

Overall, 16,233 people registered for the event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

BSCAI files for bankruptcy
Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI), the major trade association for building service contractors, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will seek to reorganize without the lease on its former headquarters.

After BSCAI contracted with Chicago-based association management firm Smith Bucklin in January 2007, it vacated its offices in Fairfax, VA.

But, BSCAI was unable to negotiate or sub-lease the Fairfax offices on acceptable terms, and the lease had become "debilitating," while providing no benefit to BSCAI members.

The bankruptcy filing will have no effect on BSCAI programs, including its convention and trade show scheduled for March 6 to 9 in Chicago.

JohnsonDiversey sells DuBois unit
Sturtevant, WI-based JanSan manufacturer JohnsonDiversey has sold its DuBois Chemicals subsidiary to a private equity firm.

The Riverside Company bought DuBois, which makes and markets chemicals for industrial markets, for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will have no impact on DuBois'' employees or customers.
