Grainger names SVP/CFO
Nationwide building supplies and JanSan distributor W.W. Grainger has named Ronald Jadin as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Jadin, who had been Grainger’s vice president and controller, has worked for Grainger for 10 years, following a 15-year career with General Electric Co.

KaiScience names advisory board
KaiScience, an online resource devoted to fostering cleaner, healthier indoor environments through science sponsored by JanSan manufacturer Kaivac Inc. of Hamilton, OH, has announced the initial members of its Technical Advisory Board.

The members are: Charlene Bayer, Ph.D.; Paul S. Darby, M.D., Ph.D.; Robert Donofrio, M.S.; Charles Gerba, Ph.D.; Jay Glasel, Ph.D.; Dennis Kunkel, Ph.D.; Wanda Phipatanakul, M.D.; Robert W. Powitz, Ph.D.; Steve Robinson, M.D.; Philip M. Tierno Jr., Ph.D.; Bennett Weintraub, Ph.D.; and Michael Zuckerman, M.D.

ServiceMaster names Merry Maid president
ServiceMaster has hired Laura Hendricks to be president of its Merry Maids unit.

Hendricks has been vice president of supply chain management at JanSan uniform supplier Cintas.

She worked at Cintas for eight years, and prior to that for FedEx for 20 years.

ASHES adds two to board
The American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) has added Brett Higgins and Bill Slezak to its board of directors.

Higgins, director of environmental services at Genesis Health System in Davenport, IA, will serve as vice president of the board and on its executive committee.

Slezak, healthcare segment manager for Rubbermaid Commercial Products in Winchester, VA, will also serve on the executive committee and as ASHES Industry Liaison.

U.S. Products hires two
JanSan manufacturer U.S. Products of Coeur d’Alene, ID, hired two new staff members.

Stephen Romero is the new auto industry account executive, heading sales for a new U.S. Products division.

Brian Consolino is the new Eastern regional sales manager.

O’Dell promotes four
The O’Dell Corporation of Ware Shoals, SC, announced four promotions and a new hire in February.

Tim Hodges was promoted from regional vice president of sales to executive vice president; Paul O’Dell was promoted from vice president-sales to vice president-national sales and accounts; Jerry Goldman was promoted from manufacturing manager to regional sales representative; and Kevin Fain was promoted to purchasing manager/vendor relations.
And William “Benjie” Prince was hired as manufacturing manager.


Tennant acquires two overseas firms
Minneapolis-based JanSan manufacturer Tennant Co. recently acquired two international cleaning machine makers — Sociedade Alfa of Brazil and Applied Sweepers of Scotland.

Sociedade Alfa, which makes the Alfa brand of commercial cleaning machines, has annual revenues of about $9 million.

Applied Sweepers makes the Green Machines line of smaller outdoor sweepers and has annual revenues of about $40 million.

The Applied Sweepers acquisition gives Tennant more access to the $250 million city cleaning market in Europe.

Rubbermaid to buy Technical Concepts
Atlanta-based JanSan manufacturer Newell Rubbermaid, parent of Rubbermaid Commercial Products, has signed an agreement to acquire Technical Concepts LLC, which makes restroom hygiene systems.

Rubbermaid will pay approximately $445 million for Technical Concepts, which last year had annual revenues of approximately $137 million, the release stated.

Technical Concepts’ products include touch-free and automated health, wellness and odor control solutions, as well as proprietary refills.

Contec acquires Sporicidin
JanSan manufacturer Contec Inc. of Spartanburg, SC, has acquired Sporicidin International, which makes disinfectants and cold sterilants for medical markets.

Contec makes products like presaturated wipes, mopping systems, and specialty cleaning supplies for the pharmaceutical, industrial and health care markets.

Sporicidin founder Dr. Robert Schattner will work with Contec after the acquisition.

Southeastern Paper buys Coastal Chemical
JanSan distributor Southeastern Paper Group of Spartanburg, SC, acquired Coastal Chemical, a JanSan distributor in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Ken Chandler, former head of Coastal, will remain with Southeastern as a sales representative.
Also, Southeastern has hired Robyn Conner as financial controller.
