Spartan Chemical appoints regional managers

Spartan Chemical Company Inc. recently announced the appointment of Jamie Brown and Tom McFarlane as regional managers to the company''s sales division.

Brown is regional manager for Spartan''s Western Florida region. He was previously a territory manager, distributor manager and district manager.

McFarlane joined Spartan in April as an area sales representative and now

will be responsible for Spartan''s Central Illinois region.

McFarlane has more than 14 years of experience as a distributor sales representative and distributor sales manager.

Procter & Gamble gets new chief executive

Effective July 1, Robert McDonald will replace nine-year executive A.G. Lafley and become the 12th chief executive

officer (CEO) in Procter & Gamble''s 172-year history.

McDonald, who has helped build the company''s developing markets business and restructure company operations, became chief operating officer (COO) in 2007. Lafley will remain chairman of the board.

Bill Nye the Science Guy joins Activeion team

Activeion Cleaning Solutions LLC recently announced the engagement of Bill Nye as a spokesman for their Activeion Pro chemical-free cleaning technology.

Nye, widely known for his Emmy®

Award winning educational series, "Bill Nye the Science Guy®," recently launched an educational video to help explain how Activeion works.

Jim Wiese, Activeion chief executive officer (CEO), said: "Bill Nye is not only an excellent communicator with an extensive history helping non-experts understand complex scientific concepts, he is a critical thinker with a strong background in the physical nature of our technology."

An inventor with several patents, Nye received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.

Cannon Hygiene chief executive resigns

Doug Calvert, chief executive officer (CEO) of Cannon Hygiene Inc., recently stepped down as the company''s top executive after the firm was acquired by another company.

Calvert, who has already begun investigating new opportunities, has been in the JanSan industry for 30 years, starting with such well-known firms as S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. and Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

Kaivac promotes chief operating officer

Kaivac Inc. recently promoted Terry Schawe, making him the company''s new chief operating officer (COO).

Schawe, who has assisted several companies in the Ohio area in developing their inside sales and service departments, has had ample experience handling a variety of financial duties as well as managing office and building operations.

Pak-It hires vice president of marketing

Frank Wiley, who has over 30 years of sales and marketing experience, with the last seven focused on the JanSan industry, recently joined Pak-It LLC as the vice president of marketing.

In 2004, Wiley helped found the Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) and served for two years as the executive director, helping organize the first Cleaning Science Symposium in 2007.

Wiley has consulted with cleaning industry companies such as Windsor Industries, Kaivac Inc. and Prochem.


Enviro-Solutions launches Chinese-language website

Enviro-Solutions Ltd. recently launched a specifically designed and created for their Chinese-speaking customers and distributors.

The new website, which can be accessed directly from Enviro-Solutions'' main website, includes a product listing as well as other pertinent and related information as to their use, application, effectiveness and certification.

This is one of the only sites developed by a North American company that specifically addresses Chinese green cleaning needs.

Green cleaning in schools mandated in several states

Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada and Connecticut state legislatures have all passed green cleaning bills that have transformed suggested measures into law.

School districts in the respective states have the option to opt-out of the green cleaning program if the measures prove economically unfeasible.

The aim of the mandates is to provide safer and healthier indoor environments for faculty, students and staff.

JohnsonDiversey wins Ameristar Packaging Award

JohnsonDiversey recently announced that its Suma® OptifillTM/MC cleaning system for manual dishware washing has received an Ameristar Packaging award by the Institute of Packaging Professionals.

Each compact 2.5-liter bottle is highly concentrated and generates up to 150 sink fills of usable solution, reducing packaging and transportation costs and lessening environmental impact.

JohnsonDiversey''s Optifill system, which uses volumetric technology and accurately dispenses detergent or sanitizer based on the flow of water, is manufactured from 25 percent post-consumer recycled materials and is fully recyclable.

NISSCO Annual Conference award winners

The National Independent Sanitary Supply Companies (NISSCO) Annual Conference was recently held at the Gaylord National Hotel in Washington and two companies were honored with awards.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based Anderson Sanitary Maintenance Products Inc. was honored as the "2008 Distributor Member of the Year."

Deerfield, Illinois-based LagasseSweet was named the "Preferred Supplier of the Year for 2008."

Rubbermaid wins Platinum ADEX Award

Rubbermaid Commercial Products LLC recently won a "2009 Platinum Awards For Design Excellence (ADEX)" award for its Metropolitan Smoker''s Station based on the product''s superior design and quality.
