EcoLogo and Hard Surface Cleaners

The latest standard under review by the EcoLogo Program has everything to do with cleaning products used regularly in homes, buildings, schools and hospitals.

The EcoLogo Program is pleased to announce the review of its environmental standard for hard surface cleaners.

This standard review process will be supported by staff from the Center for Clean Products at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, who are leaders in the development of environmental product and material standards.

The EcoLogo Program is inviting anyone interested in helping to review the hard surface cleaners standard to e-mail Jack Geibig at

Any questions around the EcoLogo standard development and review process itself should be directed to Katherine Stewart at or (613) 247-1900 ext. 231.

EcoLogo''s Pool And Spa Chemicals Standard

EcoLogo has initiated its first standard for pool and spa chemicals.

With summer here and more than seven million pools found across North America, manufacturers and purchasers will want to take note.

As Scot Case, executive director of the EcoLogo Program, explained in a press release about the new standard, there are substances used in pools and spas that could potentially be toxic to human health and the environment.

In developing its standards, the EcoLogo Program begins by outlining key environmental issues and questions to be addressed by the standard and invites a broad group of stakeholders to weigh in on part of or the entire process to ensure the highest environmental standard.

"This new EcoLogo standard will define clear criteria that products must meet before they can claim environmental leadership," said Case.

The EcoLogo Program is looking for interested individuals and companies to participate in this standard development process as feedback is vitally important to the program.

Help EcoLogo make pool and spa chemicals healthier, cleaner and greener.
