sust_proteam Today, college facility managers face more than just the day to day tasks of an already busy job. They now deal with staff cuts, budget constraints and increased concerns about the indoor air quality of the many buildings they’re required to clean.

Since ProTeam invented the backpack vacuum in 1987, the company has focused on making the cleaning process more productive, efficient and effective. In fact, ProTeam has helped to pioneer techniques that dramatically improve both the indoor air quality inside college campuses, and the time spent cleaning them.

Below, you’ll find a few ways ProTeam can help improve productivity, indoor air quality and your facility manager’s stress levels.

Cleaning for Productivity
Numerous studies and field tests have shown that a Team Cleaning program using a ProTeam vacuum can increase productivity by up to 70%, all without adding on staff. This can save tens of thousands of dollars for a college over the course of a year.

A study by ISSA Cleaning Times showed that ProTeam backpack vacuums cleaned 10,000 sq. ft. per hour. Canisters timed in at only 3,000 sq. ft. per hour, and upright vacuums at only 2,850 sq. ft. per hour. ProTeam’s backpack vacuums also offer an easily accessible tool belt that allows crews to seamlessly clean all surfaces in a classroom. This saves valuable time better spent focusing on other problem areas on campus.

Colin Butterfield, a facility manager at the University of Victoria in BC Canada, said, “The ProTeam Super CoachVac is the single greatest advance in cleaning technology I have seen. Cleaning workers are able to cover more area with less fatigue and better results. Using the Super CoachVac, productivity increases and operating costs drop dramatically.”

Cleaning for Health
A clean appearance is important, but a clean indoor environment is critical. ProTeam is a longtime partner with the American Lung Association to educate the public on the importance of healthy indoor air quality.

Studies show that the increased airflow and suction of ProTeam vacuums capture 79% more dust particles than other models, which literally makes the air cleaner.

A recent study by Dr. Michael Berry showed that using properly filtrated vacuums as part of a regular cleaning regimen helps dramatically reduce the levels of allergy and asthma triggers. Schools participating in Dr. Berry’s tests showed a 46% decrease in overall student absenteeism.

This is due, in large part, to ProTeam’s unique Four Level® Filtration system.

With Four Level Filtration, ProTeam’s vacuums are effective at filtering 99.9% of particles up to 1 micron and larger. This includes dust mites, pollen, pet dander and mold. A micron is a unit of measurement used by the cleaning industry to describe extremely small particles. For example, a human hair is 70 microns, dust is anywhere from one to 105 microns, and bacteria is three to ten microns.

ProTeam also offers HEPA and ULPA filtration systems to filter even smaller particles up to .3 and .12 microns respectively.

With Four Level Filtration, the air stays cleaner, furniture collects less dust, and the operator can work without breathing unhealthy air.

In addition, all of ProTeam’s vacuums have been approved by the Carpet and Rug Institute for the Vacuum Cleaner and Indoor Air Quality Testing Program, exceeding their stringent requirements for soil removal, dust containment and carpet appearance retention.
