WOOD DALE, IL — Disaster Kleenup International Inc. (DKI) has announced that DKI member company AAS Restoration recently presented a donation of more than $4,000 to Children''s Memorial Burn Unit, according to a press release.
The funds were raised by AAS Restoration during their seventh annual Texas Hold-em poker tournament, a charity event specifically designed to raise funds for the hospital''s burn unit, the release stated.
"The children of some of our employees have been treated compassionately at Children''s Mercy Hospital," stated Amy Storts, co-owner of the firm.
"My husband, Bruce, and I have a granddaughter who was in Children''s Mercy''s care for nearly a month when she was less than eight weeks old. She received the best care we could have hoped for. Our business deals with a variety of disasters, including fire that can affect a family. Our company can repair a damaged home; our concern is for the children who are affected," Storts added.
Over the past three and a half years, AAS Restoration has contributed more than $13,500 to the Burn Unit, the release noted.
According to the release, AAS has collected new socks and underwear for the burn patients as well as gently-used books for Children''s Mercy''s outpatient clinic program, "Reach Out and Read."
