KELLER, TX — A year after winning a National Excellence Award for maintaining indoor air quality from the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) the Keller school district has won the EPA''s 2010 National Model for Sustained Excellence Award
, according to The Keller Citizen
Officials said it was very unusual for districts participating in the EPA''s Tools for Schools Indoor Air Quality program
to receive back-to-back honors, the article noted.
"It came about because Keller ISD
is really committed to environmental excellence," said Frank DiNella, KISD director of operations.
For the last several years, maintenance and operations personnel have been using green certified products in cleaning, painting and building, the article stated.
According to the article, more campuses have gone to hard surface flooring and anti-bacterial carpet squares that are easily replaced rather than traditional carpeting.
