PHILADELPHIA — The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) estimates that almost two million patients contract an infection in hospitals across the country every year, according to a press release.
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital takes preventing infections seriously, but also creatively: Its latest effort to get more employees to wash their hands is a music video take on Michael Jackson''s classic Beat It, the release stated.
Wash ''Em is a six-minute video featuring new lyrics and an inspired dance number featuring everyone from the chief executive officer (CEO) of the hospital to members of the environmental services department, the release noted.
According to the release, it shows that preventing hospital-acquired infections is everyone''s responsibility.
