Contract cleaner killed in accident

CANTON, OH — Investigators are looking into the accidental death of a contract cleaner Wednesday night at Republic Engineered Products, according to The Times-Reporter.
Stark County Coroner''s Investigator, Harry Campbell, said Arthur Smith, 57, died after he was crushed by a hydraulic truck door: He worked for Republic contractor Superior Environmental Solutions, the article stated.
A co-worker apparently saw Smith walk away from the rear of the truck and closed the door without a view of the back of the truck, the article noted.
According to the article, Smith returned to the rear for the truck for unknown reasons and was caught in the mechanism.
Smith was trapped in the closing door and his torso was crushed when the door came down on top of him, the article added.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident, the article concluded.
