SCRANTON, PA — Officials in Northeastern Pennsylvania say an elementary school closed because of mold is unlikely to reopen by the time the next school year begins this fall, according to the Centre Daily Times.

John Audubon Elementary School in the Scranton School District was closed in October after water damage led to the mold problem, the article noted.

District engineer Gene Peters said at a school board committee meeting Monday night that the mold has been removed, but water is still getting in through the walls and roof, the article stated.

According to the article, structural and environmental engineers will now have to examine the water table as well as the foundation and roof beams.
