NEW LONDON, CT — Five local towns are slated to receive grants to buy more efficient equipment for grounds maintenance, according to The Day.
The Department of Environmental Protection is using the grants to improve local air quality, the article noted.
The grants will be used to cover 80 percent of the cost of new lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers and other equipment, the article stated.
According to the article, the $550,000 is the result of an interstate air pollution case against Ohio Edison.
