LAKE WALES, FL — Christine Adkison was recognized on April 14 as Polk County''s 2011 School Support Person of the Year, according to The Lake Wales News.

Adkison, who is a college student, single mother of four, day custodian and temporary night custodian, received a crystal trophy, plaque, Herff Jones ring, gift basket and $2,000 cash award, the article stated.

"I cannot brag enough about this employee. In the many years that she has been with us, she has missed only two days of work," said Principal Ken Henson.

"While the work load has been intense for her, she has never once complained. She is an inspiration to her four children, and she is an inspiration to the students at this school," Henson added.

According to the article, Adkison also volunteers her time with Senior Farmers, which helps elderly farmers with projects on their property and with the Family Literacy Council.
