MEMPHIS, TN — Commercial and residential restoration specialists received hands-on training on how to handle the aftermath of a flood, according to The Commercial Appeal.
The training took place in one of ServiceMaster''s "flood houses," a 1,100-square-foot facility that can be flooded, cleaned and restored over and over again, the article stated.
"As the water goes down, the demand for our services rises," said Peter Duncanson, disaster remediation specialist and director of training for ServiceMaster Clean.
"It''s already the busy season for our divisions such as Terminix and TruGreen, but with the recent tornadoes and flooding, our call centers have been overloaded and we''ve got emergency-response teams here to assist in cleanup efforts," Duncanson added.
According to the article, trainers pumped thousands of gallons of water into the training facility on Wednesday to simulate current flood conditions.
"It''s a controlled site, but it provides our technicians with a fairly realistic scenario of what it takes to deal with water damage," Duncanson said.
