LONDON — As President Obama meets with the Queen, royal cleaners will be fighting for a better wage, according to the Mirror.

Cleaners of the Royal Household are paid £6.45 an hour — equivalent to $10.47 — which is above the national minimum wage for adults but well below what they believe they deserve, the article stated.

According to the article, many royal cleaners are forced to take a second job in order to make ends meet.

"We are working in one of the most opulent places in London for one of the richest families in the world; surely they could pay us enough to make ends meet," said one cleaner.

The Public and Commercial Services union, which represents the royal cleaners, will hand a petition to ministers the day before President Obama is set to arrive, the article noted.
