CHELMSFORD, MA — Even the President of the Chelmsford Federation of Teachers is against the school''s investigation into outsourcing custodial services, according to the Chelmsford Patch.
Union President Kathryn Chamberlain expressed her concerns over outsourcing at a public session of the school committee, the article stated.
"I strongly urge the committee to reject the idea of outsourcing custodial services," said Chamberlain.
"They build bonds with students and staff alike, they are familiar faces ... their work cannot be duplicated if jobs are outsourced. When students are anxious, their ability to learn is impaired. It will affect learning," Chamberlain added.
According to the article, Chamberlain also argued that outsourcing custodial staff would allow virtual strangers into the school buildings.
