TRAVERSE CITY, MI — A night janitor is accused of stealing money intended for military families, according to the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
Jason David Cook, a janitor at Eastern Elementary School was arrested on Monday after being caught on a hidden camera, the article stated.
According to the article, Cook is charged with stealing $500, which includes money raised for a campaign that provides stuffed animals for children in military families.
After roughly $200 went missing about a month ago, the school installed hidden cameras to try and catch the thief if money ever went missing again, the article noted.
"Certainly we did not expect this to be a Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) employee involved," said Cindy Berck, director of human resources.
