NEW YORK — Following the alleged sexual assault of one of its workers, housekeepers for Sofitel are now allowed to wear pants, according to the New York Post.
Hotel employees protested the uniform, saying it left employees too vulnerable, the article stated.
According to the article, the hotel has made the uniform concession; however, it doesn''t reflect kindly on the hotel chain that such a change was only made after a violent attack on one of its employees.
New York Assemblyman Rory Lancman has said that hotel housekeepers should have panic buttons in order to "protect themselves" and as "another way to improve their working conditions," the article noted.
