LOS ANGELES — Board supervisors are seeking to cancel budget cuts that have left beachgoers outraged, according to the LA Daily News.
As of May 1, the Department of Beaches and Harbors reduced the frequency of restroom cleaning, despite the increased usage of the beaches, the article stated.
According to the article, restroom cleaning used to be performed by temporary maintenance workers funded by federal stimulus money that has run out.
In the past, restrooms were opened at 5:30 a.m.; at some beaches, that time has become as late as 11 a.m. with some restrooms remaining closed permanently, the article noted.
