The answer:
Probably the two most popular methods for commercial upholstery cleaning are hot water extraction and shampoo.
Heavily soiled upholstery may require a pre-conditioning pre-scrub prior to extraction plus an absorbent towel/acidic treatment to help it dry after cleaning.
