BALTIMORE — Infection control experts at the annual Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) conference expressed the top challenges in infection control, according to Health Leaders Media.

Infection control experts are increasingly charged with identifying weakness and dangers within their health care facilities, the article stated.

According to the article, dealing with Clostridium difficile (C. diff) outbreaks is the number one challenge on the minds of health care providers and infection control experts.

Another major issue facilities are on the lookout for is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the article stated.

Many hospitals are debating whether to test every patient upon admission or just those admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), the article added.
