LONDON — Director of EcoEvents Sam Wilson is warning suppliers their sustainability practices must stack up if they want to be considered for the 2012 Olympics, according to a press release.
Wilson has revealed she is consulting several companies appointed to supply services for the London 2012 Games whose policies are currently under scrutiny by the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), the release stated.
According to the release, Wilson believes this is a "critical time" for the industry to develop its reputation as one that "means business."
"I have heard a number of industry commentators confidently say that LOCOG wouldn''t be checking on a supplier''s environmental risk management and sustainability performance. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news — but they were wrong," said Wilson in a letter to suppliers.
"I''m working with several companies who have been appointed to work for LOCOG, and their sustainability practices and related sustainability performance is indeed being verified — both in the form of documented evidence and site visits," Wilson added.
