COLUMBIA, MO — Occupational therapy students are shadowing University of Missouri (MU) custodians in hopes of easing strain and sprains, according to The Columbia Daily Tribune.
Meagan Welsh and Brittany Abernathy, second-year occupational therapy students in MU''s School of Health Professions, followed custodial crews around and recorded the work routines, the article stated.
According to the article, the students were looking for examples of both good and bad physical movements.
''Basically, we''re looking for bad body mechanics," Welsh said.
The students will present their findings to the custodial staff in hopes that they will make the minor adjustments necessary to make their work less stressful on their bodies, the article noted.
