COLTS NECK, NJ — There is a reprieve for 10 custodians who were on the verge of losing their jobs, according to The Asbury Park Press.
The board of education voted in favor of extending the custodians'' contracts, which would have expired on August 4, the article stated.
According to the article, the new contract will run from August 5 through June 30 for eight of the custodians, and through September 30 for two others.
Board members had considered outsourcing the custodial positions, but the board''s financial committee advised against the move, the article noted.
"Having our own employees was more important than any potential money we would save," said committee chair Fred Garber.
