ABM settles in discrimination case

SAN FRANCISCO — ABM Industries will pay a judgment of $180,000 to 20 Latino workers, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The company will also upgrade its staff training to further settle the discrimination lawsuit brought about by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the article stated.

According to the article, a 2009 lawsuit accused ABM of singling out Latinos for harassment, moving them from their preferred jobs to less-desirable assignments with reduced seniority.

Under terms of the settlement, ABM must provide annual training for all supervisors on workplace diversity and civil rights laws, the article noted.
