MOSINEE, WI — Wausau Paper President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thomas Howatt will retire at the end of the year, according a press release.
Howatt, who began working at Wausau Paper 31 years ago, has served as CEO since 2000, the release stated.
According to the release, Henry Newell, 54, will succeed Howatt as president and CEO as of January 1.
While Howatt is retiring from his executive duties, he isn''t leaving the company. Howatt, 62, will take over for San Orr, Jr. as Wausau Paper''s board chairman beginning February 15, the release noted.
"Hank Newell''s leadership capabilities, vision and extensive industry experience ideally position him to lead Wausau Paper at this time," Howatt said in a statement.
