TORRINGTON, CT — Charlotte Hungerford Hospital has hired an outside firm to handle all of its cleaning and housekeeping services, according to the Republican American.

The move has resulted in nearly 30 employees being laid off, the article stated.

According to the article, work that was formerly the responsibility of the Environmental Services Department will now be performed by Building One Facility Services.

Employees who have lost their jobs due to the move are being encouraged to apply for positions with the outside contractor, the article noted.

"We have every reason to expect that many of our former employees will be returning to their jobs at the hospital, though under different circumstances and management," said Brian Mattiello, the hospital''s vice president for organizational development.
