BOZEMAN, MT — City officials report growing numbers in a whooping cough outbreak, according to KECI-TV.

"We haven''t had an outbreak this big in quite some time" said Matt Kelley, health officer with the Gallatin City-County Health Department.

Thirteen students and one coach from Bozeman High School have come down with the illness, making the school the hardest hit area, the article stated.

According to the article, the infection could be hitting the high school the hardest because the vaccine and booster shots don''t provide complete immunization.

"What we''re seeing is kids in the high school that haven''t had a booster in quite some time. Their immunity may be waning and they might get sick," Kelley added.

The school is doing their best to contain and stop the disease by putting 350 high school students on antibiotics, the article noted.
