SAVANNAH, GA — The Guyton Volunteer Fire Department was selected by Georgia-Pacific as a recipient of a 2011 Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade grant, according to the Savannah Morning News.
The grant was given to 25 fire departments from the more than 300 communities, the article stated.
"It''s a privilege to provide local fire departments with the resources to get the critical equipment they need," said Kelly Wolff, mill manager at Georgia-Pacific''s Savannah River Mill.
"When it comes to sharing our value for safety, our local volunteer fire departments do an outstanding job serving and protecting our communities. We appreciate their hard work to ensure the safety of our community, our employees and our families," Wolff added.
According to the article, the Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade program has contributed nearly $800,000 to help rural and small town fire units operating in Georgia-Pacific communities.
