CROSSVILLE, TN — Cumberland County Schools will honor their custodial staff next week as part of Custodian Appreciation Day on December 13, according to the Crossville Chronicle.

The appreciation day is part of a resolution to honor custodians that was passed on a November 17 board meeting, the article stated.

According to the article, the resolution states, "our school custodians have a long list of responsibilities to tend to daily, which includes everything from emptying waste baskets to spot cleaning walls and light fixtures."

"Whereas, custodians frequently go above and beyond the call of duty to help keep schools free of dirt and germs that may cause illness and make our schools unattractive," the resolution continued.

Sandy Brewer, 3rd District representative, expressed her gratitude that the district had not chosen to outsource their custodial staff as many others had done in recent years, the article noted.
