NEW YORK — Dealogic compiled a list of the most acquisitive public companies in America, accounting only for purchases of other companies and tossing out deals for frequently-sold assets such as wireless spectrum or tracts of land for shale drilling rights, according to The Wall Street Journal.
When all is said and done, the most acquisitive public company in the country turns out to be Swisher Hygiene Inc., the article stated.
According to the article, Swisher Hygiene — which has a market cap of about $660 million — has announced 43 acquisitions so far this year, with an announced deal value of $220 million.
Swisher Hygiene, in its own financial reports, puts that number even higher, reporting the purchase of nine of its franchises and 45 independent businesses during nine months that ended September 30, the article noted.
