GREENVILLE, SC — After an unexpected layoff from his management job, Larry Myers found new life in his job as a custodian at Welcome Elementary School, according to The Dispatch.

Myers'' journey began three years ago when the company he worked for, PGT Industries, unexpectedly laid him off as a result of company cost cutting, the article stated.

According to the article, Myers, a Welcome native, didn’t have to look too far for his next job, quickly transitioning in to a custodian at the elementary school where he has worked for a little over two years.

"I feel like I was placed here. I believe things happen for a reason. You know, life is what you make it. This has turned out to be a blessing," said Myers.

Myers, known as "Mr. Larry," doesn''t miss the pressures of working a corporate job and has made friends with the students and staff, the article noted.

Mr. Larry enjoys being around the elementary students because of their honesty and sincerity, the article added.
