WASHINGTON — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Vioguard antibacterial keyboard for use in the health care setting, according to Geek.com.
The approval means the new keyboard can be used in hospitals and other sterile environments, the article stated.
According to the article, the keyboard extends for use and retracts when it is not in use.
Once retracted, two germicidal 25-watt ultraviolet lights kill bacteria, viruses and mold in mere seconds, the article noted.
The technology has been proven to kill 99.99 percent of bugs like influenza, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other contagions, the article added.
