Cleaning company must repay

GARNER, IA — The owner of a Kanawha cleaning company received a suspended sentence on a charge of first-degree theft after overcharging a client, according to the Globe Gazette.

Tammy Ann Leerar, 47 and former owner of Accent Cleaning, had a 10-year prison sentence suspended and instead received five years of probation and was ordered to repay more than $45,000 in restitution, the article stated.

According to the article, Leerar was accused of overbilling the Apple Corporation, which owns several Applebee''s restaurants in the Des Moines area.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation indicated the fraud was committed in 2008, the article noted.
