Crime-stopping janitor named employee of the year

MIAMI — Adelaida Mora was awarded the 2011 Employee of the Year at Miami International Airport (MIA) for her efforts at thwarting a crime against two female visitors, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Mora, a janitor, was successful in preventing a man from taking money from two women after he was overheard giving them false information while trying to sell them bus tickets, the article stated.

According to the article, Mora led the passengers to safety and reported the incident to airport security and the man was later detained by Miami-Dade Police.

As part of the award, Mora received two round-trip American Airlines tickets valid for travel in the Continental U.S., Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda or Mexico, the article noted.
