Theft suspect arrested

PITTSBURGH — University police have arrested a Carnegie Mellon University housekeeping employee suspected of several on-campus thefts, according to The Tartan.

John Szalajda, 38, is employed by an independent janitorial contractor, the article stated.

According to the article, Szalajda is accused of stealing more than $25,000 worth of precious metals, wires and other materials.

Campus Police Chief Thomas Ogden alleges that Szalajda found a set of master keys in the parking lot and used them to open professors'' offices, the article noted.
