TUSCALOOSA, AL — Samuel L. Brasfield, a University of Alabama (UA) custodian who died on September 16, 2011, from injuries sustained from the April 27 tornado, is remembered as a caring brother, uncle and devoted employee, according to The Tuscaloosa News.

In March of 2011, Brasfield marked a year of employment with UA; prior to taking a post as a custodian for the University, he worked for 22 years at Coral Industries, the article stated.

"He loved working at the university and the people he was around," said Hestell Richardson, Brasfield''s sister.

"He felt very fortunate to be given the opportunity with such benefits after he was laid off," Richardson added.
