BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville Public Schools is calling for the removal of one of its custodians, alleging the employee installed vending machines on his own at two district schools, according to the Belleville Times.

Miguel Valladares, a custodian at one of the elementary schools, is being charged with a number of counts including misappropriation of public property, conduct unbecoming of a public school custodian, misbehavior, neglect of duties, insubordination and willfully making false statements to the superintendent and his direct supervisors, the article stated.

According to the article, when a vending machine at one of the schools was broken into during the summer of 2011, it was determined that the machine was neither authorized by the school board nor maintained by the board''s contract with Pomptonian Food Services.

District Superintendent Joseph Picardo has stated in court documents that Valladares'' actions were "just cause for dismissal," the article noted.
