LAWRENCE, KS — Thirty seconds was all it took for a routine night cleaning to turn in to something out of a crime show on television, according to KTMJ-TV.

A janitor, who has asked to remain anonymous, was mopping the floor of a Dillons grocery store around 2:30 a.m. when two men wearing ninja masks came into the store and attempted to rob the cash registers, the article stated.

"The guy who was messing with the register grabbed the whole pan. That''s when he started running. He came straight to me, so I just hit him with my mop," said the witness.

According to the article, the janitor explained that hitting the man was a natural reaction, but he stopped there because he was frightened of what they would do if he followed them.

The janitor feared he would be in some sort of trouble for assaulting the suspect, but Dillons employers and the Lawrence police commend his effort, the article noted.
