GREENSBORO, NC — With a few flashes of light, the Xenex System, which looks a little like R2D2 of Star Wars fame, gets down to the business of battling infections, according to TWEAN-TV.

While the cleaning staff wipes down and cleans each room, they can''t match the level of clean provided by the robot, the article stated.

"Our cleaning staff has always done a great job coming in and sterilizing and cleaning our rooms, but at the best they can do, they can only remove 80 to 85 percent of the bacteria in a room," said Mary Jo Cagle, chief quality officer.

According to the article, after about 10 minutes in the room, the machine is able to remove up to 99 percent of bacteria.
