BROWNSVILLE, WA — Pat Nicholson, a custodian at Brownsville Elementary School, isn''t comfortable being in the spotlight, but that''s exactly where students, faculty and staff thrust him, according to the Kitsap Sun.

On Tuesday, while Nicholson was off tending to what would be a fake mess, students went to work rearranging the gym for a ceremony, the article stated.

According to the article, the students rolled out a red carpet, brought in balloons and put a sparkly hat on "Fang," the floor-cleaning machine painted like a saber tooth tiger; Nicholson was given a standing ovation when he entered the gym.

All of this pomp and circumstance was intended to honor Nicholson for being the state classified employee of the year, the article noted.

Nicholson was chosen by the Washington Education Association, the article noted.
