CINCINNATI — xpedx has been awarded the ENERGY STAR at its locations in Hayward, California; Reno, Nevada; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to a press release.

xpedx''s Hayward, Reno and Pittsburgh sites earned the ENERGY STAR by scoring in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency''s (EPA) energy performance rating system, the release stated.

According to the release, these buildings use less energy, are less expensive to operate, meet strict energy performance standards and cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than peer facilities.

"xpedx is committed to work with its customers so we can all operate more sustainably," said Michael Hoffner, general manager of the Pittsburgh location.

"The ENERGY STAR partnership validates that commitment and is just one of the many strategies we''ve implemented to save energy and lower our costs," Hoffner added.
