PEKIN, IL — Five of seven city council members have reversed their opinion on the outsourcing of janitorial services, calling the relatively small amount of savings "petty," according to the Journal Star.
On Tuesday, Councilman Cody Hendricks said that $140,000 was a "small" amount in the scheme of things and voted against a contract for janitorial services, the article stated.
According to the article, outsourcing janitorial services would have reduced costs from $205,000 a year to just over $61,000.
"This would affect three employees by reducing their salaries and taking away their health insurance benefits. That''s a lot of affect for small savings," said Hendricks.
