Custodian guilty of stealing religious relics

WORCESTER, MA — A Massachusetts synagogue custodian has pled guilty to stealing gold and silver religious relics from his place of employment, according to the JTA.

Donald Spencer III, 29, is accused of stealing thousands of dollars of religious items from Temple Emmanuel, the article stated.

According to the article, items stolen include Torah shields, a Havdalah set and a Kiddush cup valued at more than $70,000.

Some of the stolen items were revealed to have been artifacts rescued from Nazi Germany, the article noted.
