LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Yara Puerta starts her day at 6 a.m., long before the school day officially begins, but she is always going above and beyond what is expected of her, according to the Laguna Niguel Patch.
It is because of that drive that Puerta was named Classified''s Employee of the Year by the Capistrano School District, the article stated.
According to the article, Puerta moved to the U.S. from her native Mexico in 1989 and was quickly hired as a custodian for the district and has been the custodian for George White Elementary School for the past three years.
Principal Mike Spelber has nothing but praise for Puerta, citing significant improvements in the cleanliness of the school as one of many reasons for her selection, the article noted.
