READING, MI — Two more Reading Community Schools employees will receive a layoff notice, including one custodian, according to the Hillsdale Daily News.
Last Wednesday, the Reading School Board approved to send a notice of termination to custodian Brad Wright, the article stated.
According to the article, the board must pass a school budget for the 2012-2013 year and they have not yet received a final budget from the state, which would tell them how much revenue to expect.
Superintendent Chellie Broesamle explained that, if they cannot get their budget "in the black," they will be assigned an emergency finance manager that would take over the district’s finances, the article noted.
"The only other option is pay cuts for everyone, and I don''t think that''s going to keep staff here, either," said Broesamle.
